The Kathmandu Valley has been casting metal for a very long time, and the lost-wax method used in Patan today is recognisably the one described in mediaeval texts: a wax model, a clay investment, the wax burnt out, the bronze poured in, the mould broken.

Every casting is therefore a one-off. The mould does not survive the pour.

Shipping this category. Pieces over 5 kg ship on a pallet rather than by courier. Bronze and copper are not restricted, but hand-painted thangka can attract cultural-property questions in some markets — we supply a non-antique declaration with every one.
