About this product

Repoussé means the design is pushed out from behind rather than cut in from the front — the vessel is packed with pitch, the pattern hammered from inside, then the pitch melted out and the surface chased.

A gagri is a working object. This one holds four litres and is watertight, though most buyers abroad use them dry, as vessels for dried flowers or simply as objects.

The interior is unlined copper. If you intend to store drinking water in it, read the note on copper vessels in our journal first.

How it was made

Hand-raised, repoussé and chased — Patan, Lalitpur.

Sourced from Patan copper workshop.

Handicrafts & Metalwork — Patan & Bhaktapur. See the rest of this category.

Producer descriptions on this site are sourcing categories rather than named suppliers. Named-supplier disclosure is available to trade buyers under NDA — ask when you request a quote.

Care & keeping

Copper darkens. Tamarind paste or lemon and salt brings it back; a lacquered finish is available on wholesale orders if you would rather it did not.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
