About this product

Tingsha are used to open and close a sitting. They are struck edge-on rather than face-on, which is what produces the clean single tone instead of a clash.

The pair is cast rather than raised, with a relief dragon on the outer face. Cast pairs are matched by ear at the workshop, because two cymbals a few hertz apart will beat against each other — pleasant if you want it, distracting if you do not.

Cord is leather, knotted, and replaceable.

How it was made

Sand-cast, hand-finished — Patan, Lalitpur.

Sourced from Patan metalworking workshop.

Producer descriptions on this site are sourcing categories rather than named suppliers. Named-supplier disclosure is available to trade buyers under NDA — ask when you request a quote.

Care & keeping

Hold by the cord, strike edge to edge. Do not polish the relief flat.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
