Only 2 in stock. Handwork cannot be reordered to an identical specification.

Despatched in 1–2 working days from Kathmandu on stock lines, tracked the whole way.
30-day retail returns on anything unused and unopened. Faulty or wrongly described, we cover the freight.

About this product

Thadobati is a shape, not a brand: straight high walls, a flat bottom, a plain lip. The proportion is what makes it a good singing bowl rather than a good-looking one — a tall wall has more metal to move and takes longer to give the energy back.

This one was raised by hand from a cast bronze disc, hot, over about two days of work with repeated annealing cycles. The hammer marks are not decorative; they are the record of the process. Struck with the suede end of the striker it gives a clean fundamental you feel in the sternum. Rimmed, it takes about four seconds to speak and then simply keeps going.

No two hand-raised bowls have the same note, so the pitch given is the one measured on this piece, not a specification we can repeat.

How it was made

Hand-raised (hand-beaten), hot-worked — Patan, Lalitpur.

Sourced from Patan metalworking workshop.

Care & keeping

Dry cloth only. Bronze darkens with handling and most owners prefer it that way; if you want it bright, tamarind paste or a proprietary brass polish, buffed dry. Never a dishwasher.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
