About this product
Chai wants a tea that can survive being boiled with milk, which is exactly what CTC is for. A delicate orthodox leaf would be wasted here and would taste of nothing by the time the milk went in.
The spice is Nepali where Nepal grows it well — the large cardamom in particular, which is smokier and more resinous than the green cardamom used in Indian blends. Ground coarse on purpose: fine-ground masala goes stale in weeks.
Boil one heaped teaspoon per cup with half milk, half water, for four minutes. Sweeten or do not.
How it was made
Blended, coarse-ground spice — Jhapa (tea), Taplejung (cardamom).
Sourced from Blended in Kathmandu.
Nepal Tea — Ilam & Dhankuta. See the rest of this category.
Producer descriptions on this site are sourcing categories rather than named suppliers. Named-supplier disclosure is available to trade buyers under NDA — ask when you request a quote.
Care & keeping
Airtight. The spice fades before the tea does — use within 12 months.
Shipping, duty & returns
Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.
Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.
Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
