About this product

Rope incense is the simplest form there is: powdered herb laid on a strip of lokta paper and twisted. There is no bamboo core, no charcoal, no fragrance oil.

Juniper is what gets burnt on the passes and outside monasteries — a dry, resinous, slightly bitter smoke that reads as cold air and woodsmoke rather than as perfume. Rhododendron softens it.

Burn it by lighting one end and standing it in a bowl of sand or ash, or bend it over the rim of a dish. One rope runs about twenty minutes.

How it was made

Hand-rolled — Mustang / Kathmandu.

Sourced from Incense workshop, Kathmandu.

Producer descriptions on this site are sourcing categories rather than named suppliers. Named-supplier disclosure is available to trade buyers under NDA — ask when you request a quote.

Care & keeping

Keep dry. Never leave burning incense unattended.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
