About this product

Chyangra is the Nepali name for the high-altitude goat whose winter undercoat this is. The fibre is combed out in spring, dehaired by hand to remove the coarse guard hair, spun, and woven on a handloom in the Kathmandu Valley.

At about 14 microns the cloth is warm out of all proportion to its weight — a full-width shawl here is around 240 g. Undyed, so the colour is the goat's own: an off-white with a faint warm cast that no dye reproduces.

Fringe is hand-twisted, not cut. Composition is woven into the label, not printed on a swing tag, because printed tags come off and claims about pashmina need to survive the wash.

How it was made

Hand-dehaired, handloom woven, hand-twisted fringe — Kathmandu Valley.

Care & keeping

Dry clean, or hand-wash cold with a wool detergent and dry flat. Never wring it. Store folded with cedar, not in plastic.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
