In stock Free retail shipping over $150.00

Several hundred hand-rolled wool balls, strung and stitched into a round mat. Soft underfoot, surprisingly hard-wearing, and it does not slide.

Despatched in 1–2 working days from Kathmandu on stock lines, tracked the whole way.
30-day retail returns on anything unused and unopened. Faulty or wrongly described, we cover the freight.
Declared at its real value. We do not under-declare and we do not mark commercial goods as gifts.
Handwork varies. Tool marks, grain and small colour shifts are characteristics, not faults.

About this product

Every ball is rolled by hand from carded wool in hot soapy water until the fibres lock. They are then dyed, dried, and strung in rows on a heavy thread before the rows are stitched to each other.

A 90 cm rug is somewhere north of six hundred balls and a couple of days of work. The texture is what makes it — a flat weave gives you a surface, this gives you something that moves slightly underfoot.

New Zealand carpet wool rather than local mountain wool, because it felts more consistently and holds dye far better.

How it was made

Care & keeping

Vacuum without a beater bar. Spot-clean with wool detergent. It will shed a little for the first few weeks.

Shipping, duty & returns

Retail orders leave Kathmandu within two working days of payment clearing and are tracked throughout. Free over $150.00; a flat $24.00 below that.

Import duty and tax in your own country are not included and are payable by you. We declare goods at their real value.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging. Food, tea, spices, honey and cosmetics are not returnable once opened, which is a food-safety position rather than a commercial one.
